Our July 2025 submission to the Special Committee to Review Provisions of the Human Rights Code provides an overview of BCOHRC, including the history of the Office, some of our key achievements and how we have engaged communities across B.C. to protect and promote human rights in our province.

The Strategy and Organizational Evaluation Report examines BCOHRC’s progress in advancing its strategic priorities and contributing to systemic change since its establishment in 2019.

To measure progress and assess our impact, this Where We Stand report reviews 159 recommendations to provincial public bodies issued over the Commissioner’s first term (September 2019 through August 2024)—taking stock of which of the Commissioner’s recommendations have led to change and where we must continue to push for progress.

This submission was presented to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services.

In November 2023, B.C.’s Human Rights Commissioner launched an inquiry into involuntary detentions under the Adult Guardianship Act (AGA). In April 2025, the Commissioner released her findings and recommendations.
