Since BC’s Office of the Human Rights Commissioner opened in 2019, the Commissioner has made recommendations to advance human rights and eliminate discrimination through reports, inquiries and letters.

To measure progress and assess our impact, this Where We Stand report reviews 159 recommendations to provincial public bodies issued over the Commissioner’s first term (September 2019 through August 2024)—taking stock of which of the Commissioner’s recommendations have led to change and where we must continue to push for progress.

Recommendations were also made to local governments and private entities. The supplemental report looks at these additional recommendations and describes the progress made to implement them as well.
