Our July 2025 submission to the Special Committee to Review Provisions of the Human Rights Code provides an overview of BCOHRC, including the history of the Office, some of our key achievements and how we have engaged communities across B.C. to protect and promote human rights in our province.

BCOHRC was invited to make a submission on the human rights implications of the agreement between BC Corrections and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to use provincial prisons to detain asylum-seekers under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) as the provincial government reviews the agreement.

These submissions to the Special Committee on Reforming the Police Act (SCORPA) use disaggregated demographic data to reveal disturbing racial disparities in policing in our province.

This submission was presented to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services.

Under international law, economic rights— like the right to an ‘adequate standard of living’ through necessities like food, water and housing— are protected.
