Since being appointed in 2019, the Commissioner’s mandate has been to implement both the statutory mandate to protect and promote human rights in B.C., as well as the operational necessity to build the organization from the ground up. Monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement are built into each stage of BCOHRC’s development as we build, grow, sustain, refine and renew.
To evaluate the Office’s impact over its first five years in operation, BCOHRC commissioned a third-party organizational evaluation.
The Strategy and organizational evaluation report examines BCOHRC’s progress in advancing its strategic priorities and contributing to systemic change since its establishment in 2019. Written by an external evaluation expert, Three Hive Consulting, it examines to what extent BCOHRC’s efforts have influenced the protection of human rights in the province. Additionally, the evaluation considers how BCOHRC’s staffing, internal processes and accessibility of resources have affected its ability to achieve its strategic priorities and fulfill the Commissioner’s mandate.
