Our five-year strategic plan, Rising to the Challenge: Path to 2030, lays the foundation for our Office’s work between 2025/26 and 2029/30. It describes:

  • our purpose, mandate and vision
  • our grounding approaches and guiding principles
  • what we have heard and learned over the past five years
  • the context in which we are now operating
  • our capabilities and how we will measure progress

Rising to the Challenge also outlines five areas where BCOHRC stands to make the most impact in promoting and protecting human rights in B.C. while being alert, agile and responsive to emerging issues. These strategic priorities are:

  • the right to participate in democratic systems
  • the right to the highest attainable standard of health
  • poverty as a cause and effect of inequality and injustice
  • discrimination under B.C.’s Human Rights Code
  • decolonization and Indigenous rights
