The Baseline Project is a multi-year project by BC’s Office of the Human Rights Commissioner that aims to monitor and evaluate the state of human rights in the province of British Columbia.

Alongside community members and organizations, this project will identify salient human rights priorities and solutions to improve human rights issues across British Columbia. By establishing a human rights baseline, we aim to influence policy, raise public awareness, and deepen relationships across B.C. to enhance capacity and build strength.

BCOHR’s team is pleased to kick off the first phase of our community embedded research project with orientation workshops with our Community Connectors network in the following communities:

  • Cranbrook, B.C. on November 8, 2022
  • Chetwynd, B.C. on November 15, 2022
  • Terrace, B.C. on November 24, 2022
  • Chilliwack, B.C. on December 1, 2022

These orientation sessions are restricted to Community Connectors—organizations and public institutions who have partnered with BCOHRC to bring this project into their communities. BCOHRC will be conducting community embedded research in eight more communities across B.C. over the next two years.
