On Thursday, June 25, 2020, from 2:30-4:30 pm PDT, BC’s Human Rights Commissioner Kasari Govender will be hosting an education and engagement session via Zoom with participants from BC’s Northwest.
The two-hour session is an opportunity to hear from people in the region about the pressing human rights issues impacting their lives and to share information about rights and responsibilities under B.C. law and our human rights system.
“People in B.C.’s northern and remote communities face unique human rights challenges. I look forward to connecting directly with people from the area about the issues they are facing. We’ll be sharing information with those who can attend about their rights and responsibilities, as well as how they can seek support and justice when they feel that they have been discriminated against,” said Commissioner Govender.
“As BC’s Office of the Human Rights Commissioner is newly re-established, my office has identified five key priorities for our work and I want to hear whether these priorities resonate with what Northwestern British Columbians are experiencing in their day to day lives,” she continued.

This education and engagement session is one of several that the Commissioner will be conducting. Her next virtual session is planned for Vancouver Island/Coast region on July 09, 2020.
